Santa Claus is back, and apparently he still has plenty of violence left in his Christmas stocking. Universal Pictures is bringing David Harbour back as the foul-mouthed, axe-swinging Santa in Violent Night 2, with director Tommy Wirkola returning to deliver another dose of brutal holiday action.
This time, however, Santa has a bigger problem than a few criminals on the naughty list. After losing his magic and finding himself officially labeled naughty, Kris Kringle must rediscover the true meaning of Christmas before he can save the day. His target is Mason, a ruthless gangster played by Jared Harris, who is terrorizing the merchants of Silver Bell Mall.
Santa won’t be fighting alone. Kristen Bell joins the mayhem as Mrs. Claus, who suits up and joins her husband in the battle. The cast also includes Joe Pantoliano, Maxwell Friedman, Daniela Melchior and Andrew Bachelor.
Written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, Violent Night 2 is produced by Kelly McCormick, David Leitch and Annie Marter through 87North Productions. The sequel follows the 2022 original, which turned the idea of a murderous Santa into an unexpectedly entertaining action-comedy.
With Harbour back in the red suit and Wirkola once again behind the camera, the sequel looks ready to deliver exactly what fans expect: Christmas cheer, ridiculous violence and a Santa who solves problems with something considerably heavier than a candy cane.
Violent Night 2 arrives in theaters on December 4, 2026.
