Godzilla Minus Zero is now in theaters, and the king of the monsters is squaring off against King Ghidorah.
Toho openly showed off the three-headed kaiju in a terrifying preview. Ghidorah first appeared in 1964’s Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster and has since turned up in 11 Godzilla films, most recently in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Director Takashi Yamazaki chose Ghidorah as the monster to beat, confirming that everything leading up to the sequel pointed to its arrival.
The sequel has made a strong start. It broke the record for the highest opening day of any live-action film in Japan and is now projected to earn $30 million in its opening weekend, helped by glowing reviews from critics and audiences.
It also sets new franchise milestones as the first R-rated Godzilla movie and the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX.
Godzilla Minus Zero opened in theaters on November 6, 2026.
