Jim Caviezel is heading back into action with Ghost Soldier, a new thriller that turns a quiet small-town resident into a one-man army when his community comes under attack.
Caviezel stars as Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, a mysterious man who has deliberately disappeared from the world and settled into a peaceful life in his hometown. That peace ends when a powerful foreign corporation moves in, attempting to seize the land belonging to Fitz and his neighbors for a massive payday.
Unfortunately for the corporation, Fitz is hiding one serious secret: he is a former Special Forces soldier and advanced weapons developer. When negotiations fail, he unleashes a collection of experimental weapons and military skills that his enemies never expected.
The cast also includes Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt and Shea Whigham, with William Eubank directing from a screenplay by Chris Papasadero. David Zelon and William Sherak produce, while Caviezel joins the executive producer team.
Sony Pictures has given Ghost Soldier a PG-13 rating for strong violence, some bloody images and language, suggesting the film will deliver plenty of action without pushing into R-rated territory.
The premise sounds tailor-made for Caviezel’s increasingly action-focused screen presence: an isolated veteran, overwhelming odds and an enemy that has badly underestimated the man standing in its way.
Ghost Soldier arrives in theaters on November 6.
