Untold Mr. T: I Pity The Fool

Netflix is turning the spotlight on one of the most instantly recognizable stars of the 1980s with Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool, a retrospective documentary about Laurence Tureaud, better known to millions simply as Mr. T.

Before he became the unforgettable Clubber Lang in Rocky III or won a generation of fans as B.A. Baracus on The A-Team, Tureaud was building a life far removed from Hollywood fame. The new documentary promises to explore that journey, looking beyond the gold chains, mohawk and legendary catchphrase to the man who created one of pop culture’s most enduring personalities.

Mr. T remains the kind of celebrity who can be recognized from a silhouette alone. His distinctive appearance, booming voice and “I pity the fool” catchphrase became part of the entertainment landscape, but Netflix appears more interested in the story behind the image. How did Laurence Tureaud become Mr. T, and what happened before television and movies made him a household name?

Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool will be the third installment in a new three-week run of Netflix’s Untold documentary series. The lineup begins August 25 with Untold: The Testimony of Vince Young, followed September 1 by Untold Raygun: Breaking Badly.

Mr. T gets the final spotlight, giving fans a chance to revisit an action icon while discovering the man behind the legend.
