The Batman Part 2

The Batman: Part 2

The Batman: Part 2 is finally moving from long-awaited sequel to actual production, with cameras rolling in Glasgow as the city once again doubles for the rain-soaked streets of Gotham. Warner Bros. has the film scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2028, and the latest production details are beginning to reveal what fans can expect.

Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne, and the Batmobile spotted in Glasgow appears to be the same muscle car from the 2022 film. It is reportedly being used largely unchanged and still carries battle damage, suggesting Matt Reeves’ sequel may pick up relatively soon after the events of the first movie.

The biggest development, however, could be Sebastian Stan’s apparent confirmation that he is playing Harvey Dent, the Gotham district attorney destined to become the infamous Two-Face. If true, the character could provide one of the sequel’s most important new storylines.

Scarlett Johansson has also joined the cast, alongside Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Johansson is reportedly playing the film’s main villain: a mysterious killer obsessed with plants who targets Gotham’s elite using deadly toxins. That sounds very much like Reeves’ grounded interpretation of Poison Ivy, without the comic-book spectacle of sentient vines.

Reeves has also confirmed one noticeable upgrade for Pattinson’s Dark Knight: longer ears on the Batsuit, giving the character a slightly more classic Batman silhouette while maintaining the realistic aesthetic established in the first film.

Matt Reeves co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin, but major plot details remain secret. And despite earlier speculation, The Batman: Part 2 and a potential third installment will not be filmed back-to-back.

For now, the combination of Two-Face, a grounded Poison Ivy, a battle-scarred Batmobile and a new Batsuit suggests Reeves is expanding his version of Gotham without abandoning the gritty style that made the first movie stand out.
