MMA fighter must fight to save himself in Death Mist

Mike Leeder reports that the delayed Fist of the Dragon is now titled Death Mist, and some re-shoots are currently taking place in China. Also, the movie has two added cast members: actor/singer Jonny Blu and the legendary Bruce Liang.

Joshua Joseph Thomson is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the UFC’s Lightweight division. Before becoming a full-time professional fighter, Thomson worked in construction. Thomson started out very strongly in his MMA career winning his first two professional bouts, before going to a no contest with Kid Yamamoto. Thomson would then go on to win his next three fights, including a win over former WEC Lightweight Champion Rob McCullough. Thomson made his debut in the UFC at UFC 44 defeating Gerald Strebendt by knockout in the first round. He would then pick up a decision victory over Hermes Franca in an incredible fight at UFC 46, before falling victim in his next fight to a highlight reel KO finish at the hands and foot of Yves Edwards.

Fist of the Dragon is directed by Antony Szeto and stars Joshua Joseph Thomson, Juju Chan, Maria Tran, Ellary Porterfield and Daniel Whyte. Roger Corman’s New Horizons Pictures is producing.

This film is a full on action film with a combination of fight choreography which includes Hapkido, MMA, and Vietnamese martial arts.

This is the second Roger Corman film being produced in China. The first one is The Haunted, a thriller, which is also produced in ACE Studios. Fist Of The Dragon should take 5 months in post production before it as a release date.

Synopsis: Damon, an MMA fighter retires and goes to China to meet his new love, Meili. But things take an immediate turn when he inadvertently takes a package sought by an underground arms dealer. Now he must fight to save himself and his loved one.

The Fist of the Dragon isn’t coming out until 2014/2015.
