Liev Schreiber returns to the crime-thriller world with Nocturne, a new Apple TV series that asks how far a detective is willing to go when the killer he is hunting begins targeting his own family.
Schreiber stars as Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who has grown tired of the violent streets of Philadelphia. Looking for a quieter life, Jonah moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania, hoping to leave his dangerous past behind. That plan quickly collapses when the community and his family become targets of the calculating serial killer Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham.
With the killer still at large and his latest victim missing, Jonah is forced back into the hunt. His most difficult decision comes when the search requires him to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, portrayed by Zazie Beetz, directly into Jurek’s dangerous orbit.
The question at the heart of Nocturne is not simply whether Jonah can catch the killer, but how much of his own morality he is prepared to sacrifice to save the people he loves. The series promises a tense battle of intelligence between a determined detective and an exceptionally manipulative murderer.
The story is based on the Joona Linna crime novels by bestselling thriller authors Lars Kepler. The ten-book series has sold 20 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 40 languages.
Nocturne premieres October 30 on Apple TV.
