Raid Pacific

JCVD in Raid Pacific

Jean-Claude Van Damme has signed on to star in Raid Pacific, a World War II thriller inspired by real events that will put him in command of a dangerous submarine mission.

Van Damme plays Captain William Pierce, a decorated U.S.-French submarine commander operating in the tense aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor. His mission is anything but routine: transport a team of Marine raiders deep into enemy-controlled waters and eliminate a strategic outpost capable of changing the balance of power in the Pacific.

Directed by Steven Luke, whose previous work includes Come Out Fighting, Raid Pacific is being presented to international buyers by VMI Worldwide. The film is expected to combine wartime action with a more character-driven story focused on leadership, sacrifice and survival under extreme pressure.

For Van Damme, the role represents an interesting change of direction. The actor built his career on martial arts hits including Bloodsport, Kickboxer and Universal Soldier, but Raid Pacific appears to offer a different kind of physical challenge. Instead of trading kicks in a tournament, he will be navigating the confined, unforgiving environment of a submarine.

Producer Dean Bloxom says Van Damme brings intensity and emotional weight to Captain Pierce, while Luke has described the project as a historically grounded story driven by human drama.

With further casting still to be announced, Raid Pacific could become one of Van Damme’s most intriguing late-career projects.
