Newcomer Michael Chuah presents Fist of Dragon

Michael Chuah is a new blood in martial arts movie industry and it is always interesting to see some fresh ideas. This Malaysian-based writer, director and lead actor present his debut work named Fist of Dragon, a very popular words combination to use in movie title. But Michael is not alone, he came with a heavy artillery as a Ip Man 2 film and 14 Blades producer on his side, so popularity and word of mouth are garantee.

Being a fan of Jet Li and Jackie Chan himself, Chuah was inspired to fill the void of stand-strong heroic protagonist left from these older generation in Hong Kong cinema during the 90’s. Other cast member include Fiona Xie, Henry Thia and Wang Xiao Chen. The theatrical release date in Singapore is on August 22th.

Plot: “Fist of Dragon” tells the story of Li, who comes to South East Asia by the request of his father to help out his uncle who has been facing financial difficulties. Li, upon arriving in the town, feels out of place due to the differences in cultures of the people here. When he discovers that his uncle has been facing many hardships posed by the local mobsters, Li decided to stay and to help his uncle and get rid of them. However, Li encounter numerous resistances from the locals as Li’s action brings the wrath of the triad and drags the whole town into turmoil. Moreover, his uncle’s daughter, Lily is on the triad side, and their relationship is badly affected when the confrontation between the two groups reach its peak.
