A quiet grandfather becomes the last line of defense for his family in Never Surrender, the new Indonesian action film from Netflix, which has just released its teaser trailer.
The story is set in a small village in Central Java. Eyang Hari lives alone and rarely sees his two grandchildren, until they arrive at his door. Trouble from Jakarta follows them, and a gang of ruthless criminals storms the house and traps the family inside. With a criminal syndicate closing in, the grandfather and the kids are left with two choices: surrender or fight back.
Hari chooses to fight, drawing on combat skills from his past as the violence grows more brutal. Netflix describes the film as a mix of hard-hitting fight scenes, tactical thinking, and a grounded story about three generations rebuilding trust while dealing with grief and old mistakes.
Lukman Sardi leads the cast, joined by Callista Arum, Sulthan Hamonangan, Derby Romero, and Donny Alamsyah.
The film marks Sidharta Tata’s first collaboration with producers Kimo Stamboel and Edwin Nazir.
Never Surrender premieres on November 12, only on Netflix.
