LL Cool J is bringing Special Agent Sam Hanna back into action with NCIS: New York, a new CBS series that expands the NCIS universe with a fresh team, a familiar face, and a case that quickly becomes personal.
The series premieres with Sam returning to his hometown after years of special assignments and covert operations. When his friend Jack Halloway, a Navy reservist, is found dead, Sam asks Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Robyn Wells, played by Jennifer Beals, for permission to investigate.
What begins as a personal search for answers soon becomes a full NCIS investigation, with Sam and his team gathering crucial information to identify those responsible for Jack’s death. The case gives the series an immediate mystery while allowing Sam’s experience in covert operations to shape the new team.
The premiere will also feature Brian Dietzen, reprising his long-running role as Jimmy Palmer. Dietzen has played Palmer since the first season of NCIS and has previously brought the character to NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Hawai’i, making his appearance another connection between the expanding shows.
Showrunner Byron Balasco has also teased the possibility of future crossovers, opening the door for more familiar NCIS faces to enter the New York operation.
NCIS: New York premieres October 6 on CBS and Paramount+.
