Controversial filmmaker Uwe Boll is back with another provocative action thriller, and this time the spotlight is firmly on Armie Hammer.
Set in Zagreb, the film follows Sanders, a wealthy but emotionally damaged businessman who inherits a massive real estate empire before transforming into a ruthless underground vigilante. Frustrated by a corrupt legal system, Sanders begins targeting violent criminals, rapists, and corrupt judges who escaped justice through wealth and influence.
As his brutal campaign spreads online, Sanders evolves into both a hunted criminal and a disturbing public icon. While some view him as a dangerous extremist, others begin celebrating him as a hero willing to do what the system refuses to do.
The trailer teases brutal violence, psychological tension, and morally gray themes that fit perfectly within Boll’s confrontational filmmaking style. Opposing Sanders is Interpol Chief Henry, played by Costas Mandylor, who launches an international manhunt to stop the vigilante before his influence spirals further out of control.
Even before release, Citizen Vigilante has already generated controversy, with Boll claiming Germany’s ratings board effectively blocked the film domestically — reigniting debates about censorship, vigilantism, and artistic freedom.
The Citizen Vigilante has digital release on June 19, 2026 through Quiver Distribution.
