UFC legend Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone steps into the spotlight as the lead of the upcoming sci-fi action film Winter: Battleground, arriving on demand April 7, 2026.
The project marks another step in Cerrone’s transition from professional fighter to action film performer.
Set in a grim post-apocalyptic future, the story follows a rogue soldier who has gone into hiding deep within a forest after an artificial intelligence regime seizes control of much of the United States. As the AI expands its power, it deploys elite assassins, cybernetic soldiers, and heavily armed machines to hunt down anyone capable of resisting its rule.
Cerrone plays a battle-scarred warrior who becomes the last line of defense against the growing machine empire. Forced out of hiding, he assembles a small team of survivors and fighters willing to challenge the AI’s grip on the country. Their mission becomes a desperate fight through hostile terrain and relentless enemies in an attempt to stop the system before it achieves total domination.
The film is directed by David Christopher Pitt and leans heavily into combat-driven action set within a dystopian landscape. Winter: Battleground positions Cerrone’s real-world fighting experience at the center of its survival story as he takes on the role of a reluctant hero.
