Glen Powell in The Running Man

The Running Man

Paramount has announced that The Running Man remake will hit theaters on November 7, 2025, with Glen Powell in the lead role.

Directed by Edgar Wright, the film is a new adaptation of Stephen King’s dystopian novel. Set in a totalitarian America in 2025, the story follows a desperate man who enters a deadly game show to earn money for his sick daughter. In The Running Man, contestants are hunted by professional killers on live television. The longer they survive, the more money they earn.

Powell plays a contestant who refuses to play by the rules. Instead of running, he fights back—turning the show into a rebellion against the system that created it.

This marks a major shift in tone and style from the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger version. With Wright directing and Powell in the spotlight, the remake aims to deliver a darker, more grounded take on King’s original story.

Expect high-stakes action, biting social commentary, and a fresh vision of a near-future America obsessed with violence and spectacle. More casting news and first-look images are expected soon.
