Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the trailer for The Bluff, a late-19th-century pirate action-adventure set to premiere on Prime Video on February 25. Produced by the Russo brothers, the film pairs Priyanka Chopra Jonas with The Boys star Karl Urban in a high-stakes revenge story set well after piracy’s golden age.
Chopra Jonas stars as Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, a former pirate who believes she has buried her violent past while raising a family in the Cayman Islands. That fragile peace collapses when her former captain Connor, played by Karl Urban, resurfaces with vengeance on his mind. With piracy fading into history, the film frames its outlaws as more ruthless and desperate than ever, fighting for survival in a world that no longer has a place for them.
Directed by Frank Flowers from a script he co-wrote with Joe Ballarini, The Bluff leans into grit rather than romance, grounding its story in historical reality. Chopra Jonas has noted that researching real female pirates reshaped her understanding of the role, anchoring the character in truth rather than fantasy.
The film is produced by Anthony and Joe Russo through AGBO, alongside Chopra Jonas and Cinestar Pictures, positioning The Bluff as a darker, character-driven take on pirate mythology for streaming audiences.
