Road House 2

Road House 2 is getting bigger

Road House stormed Prime Video last March and rewrote the streamer’s record books. Nearly 80 million viewers watched in its first eight weeks, making it the platform’s most-watched produced film debut worldwide. A sequel was inevitable. The announcement arrived barely two months later.

Doug Liman’s reboot reworked Rowdy Herrington’s 1989 Patrick Swayze action classic, swapping late-80s grit for modern MMA muscle. Jake Gyllenhaal stepped in as Elwood Dalton, an MMA fighter turned bouncer, and audiences responded.

Road House 2 is now moving fast. Connor McGregor’s wild antagonist Knox will not return. Dave Bautista is expected to step in as the new heavy. Early plans named Guy Ritchie as director back in April, with Gyllenhaal locked to reprise his role. By November, the project shifted again, with Ilya Naishuller taking over directing duties from a script by Will Beall.

The sequel is doubling down on combat credibility. New cast members include Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor, Iko Uwais, and Hidetoshi Nishijima, as well as real-life fighters: Rico Verhoeven, Michael Chandler, Michael “Venom” Page, Dustin Poirier, Stephen Thompson, and Tyron Woodley. Jay Hieron returns as UFC fighter Jax “Jetway” Harris.

Filming is underway across the U.K., Malta, and Savannah, Georgia. The Florida Keys are about to get louder.
