Netflix is bringing a new adaptation of Man on Fire to the screen, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II set to lead the upcoming series based on the novels by A.J. Quinnell.
The series follows Creasy, once a highly skilled Special Forces operative known for surviving the most dangerous situations. Years of violence have taken their toll, leaving him struggling with severe PTSD. Seeking redemption and a chance to rebuild his life, Creasy attempts to leave his past behind. But the quiet life he hopes for quickly slips away, pulling him back into a brutal world of conflict and survival.
As danger closes in, Creasy is forced to confront both his enemies and his own inner battles. The mission becomes more than a fight for survival. It becomes a test of whether he can overcome the demons that have followed him since his time in combat.
The story originates from Quinnell’s bestselling novel series that began in 1980 with Man on Fire. The first book was famously adapted into the 2004 action film directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, and Christopher Walken. The new Netflix series aims to revisit the character’s darker origins and deeper psychological struggles.
The action drama will premiere globally on April 30, 2026, marking the latest take on the story of troubled mercenary John Creasy.
