Kandahar is a new action film directed by Ric Roman Waugh and produced by Gerard Butler.
The story follows Tom Harris, an undercover CIA operative, who is stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. When an intelligence leak exposes his identity and mission, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding the elite special forces unit tasked with hunting them down.
It’s the first Hollywood production to shoot in Saudi Arabia’s AlUla region.
Ric Roman Waugh is known by Angel Has Fallen, Snitch and Fellon movies.
Screenplay comes from Mitchell LaFortune, based on his own experiences as a military intelligence officer during the Snowden leaks.
The Kandahar film starring Gerard Butler, Ali Fazal and Navid Negahban, and will be released in theaters on May 26, 2023.
