Angel Studios has officially unveiled Drummer Boy, an ambitious new action-musical that blends Revolutionary War drama with the music of four-time Grammy Award-winning duo For King & Country.
Australian filmmaker Ben Smallbone reunites with his brother Joel David Smallbone for the project, with the pair sharing directing duties. Richard L. Ramsey penned the screenplay, while Joel also takes the lead role alongside Lucas Leach and Beth Easdown. More casting announcements are expected in the coming months.
Set during the American Revolutionary War, Drummer Boy follows two brothers who find themselves fighting on opposite sides of the conflict, forcing them to choose between family loyalty and the causes they believe in. By combining large-scale action with original music, the film aims to offer a fresh take on one of the most pivotal chapters in American history.
According to the filmmakers, the project has been eight years in the making, making its CinemaCon debut a major milestone. The timing is also significant, arriving as the United States celebrates 250 years of independence.
Known for faith-based hits with strong emotional storytelling, Angel Studios is betting that Drummer Boy will appeal to audiences looking for epic historical drama, memorable music and heartfelt family conflict. If successful, it could become one of the studio’s most unique releases to date.
Announced during CinemaCon as part of the studio’s upcoming slate, the film is set to arrive in theaters on November 6, 2026.
