Arena by robo-Armani

Arena is an upcoming movie starring 2 teeny-bopping vampire hotties Kellan Lutz and Nina Dobrev. It looks like Spartacus crossed with Sucker Punch under supervision of Samuel L. Jackson wearing a suit designed by robo-Armani.

Plot: David Lord finds himself forced into the savage world of a modern gladiatorial arena, where men fight to the death for the entertainment of the online masses.

I do not no why this style of movies are so popular, I liked 300, but was absolutely disappointed with Sucker Punch, now world waits for Immortals movie release, where greek warrior Theseus battles against imprisoned titans. This movie full of stars: beautiful Freida Pinto, old-school actror John Hurt, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans and inimitable Mickey Rourke. But why I am saying about Immortals now? Because Kellan Lutz in it too, playing Poseidon! Have not heard about this guy before, probably have seen him in The Twilight, but did not fix him in my mind at all.

Can’t say anything special about him in a relation to martial arts, besides that he prefers to perform his own stunts when making films. In Lutz’s free time, he likes to take part in extreme skateboarding, weight training, track, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, swimming, tennis, racquetball, badminton, snow skiing, and he is one of the models featured in the 2010 Calvin Klein X underwear campaign. Girls, you can start screaming now!

But let’s back to the Arena movie, it is debute work for visual effects supervisor Jonah Loop, who worked on Transporter 2, Collateral, A Perfect Getaway, Brothers and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Not bad movies by the way, so hope he will show all his abilities in Arena.

With a budget of $10,000,000 producers got on board: Samuel L. Jackson, James Remar, Daniel Dae Kim (a korean guy from the Lost tv series), Johnny Messner, Nina Dobrev.

On the fight choreography worked a rising star in the martial arts movie industry Arnold Chon. He began his training at the age of 5 at the Jhoon Rhee Institute in Annandale, Virginia, and received his black belt at the age of 11 and trained very hard in his other passion: gymnastics. Now he is a forms competitor and champion, able to throw many incredible kicks and is an accomplished athlete and able to use weapons. He previously worked on The Last Airbender, Blood and Bone, Black Dynamite, Rush Hour 3, Cradle 2 the Grave and upcoming Hugh Jackman’s Real Steel. That’s him on the right.

Stunt coordinator of Arena is Lin Oeding, Former Member of Houston Stuntmen’s Association, worked on Warrior, Tekken, Inception. Lin competed professionally in Bare-Knuckled fighting events. What is interesting about him: in 1989, he was a semi-finalist at the Nintendo World Championship, and was considered one of the best Tetris players in the country.

Moreover they have Beau Brasso and Sam Medina from Never Back Down 2, not such a names, but look at the pictures below.

So we have got a very talented crew, but fingers still crossed to see something really worth watching. So prepare yourselves for October 11, 2011.
