Mortal Kombat 2 is taking the pace with Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn and Karl Urban as Johnny Cage (in negotiation).
A sequel to the James Wan-produced reboot of Mortal Kombat is currently in the works from New Line with Simon McQuoid as a director.
The first movie was released in 2021 and grossed $84,426,031 worldwide. It also became one of the most-watched titles on the streaming platform now known as Max.

While the plot details of Mortal Kombat 2 remain under wraps, the first film revolved around MMA fighter Cole Young, played by Lewis Tan, as he fought against adversaries from Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the fate of the universe.
