The story of Road House remake started in 2013 when Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer began development with Rob Cohen attached as a director and Ronda Rousey as a lead. In 2015 Nick Cassavetes boarded the film as writer and director but this attempt is also failed.
6 years later, In 2021, MGM began another attempt, with Jake Gyllenhaal set to star, and Doug Liman to direct. But project been officially greenlit only in August 2022, now at Amazon Studios as a result of the studio purchasing MGM. The filming finally began in the Dominican Republic in August 2022.
The new take follows a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.
The cast includes Conor McGregor, Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.
This is the first feature film for the UFC’s former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. He is the biggest name in mixed martial arts and producers made the right bet on his appearance in the film.
The film is written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. Produced by Joel Silver via his Silver Pictures, with JJ Hook, Alison Winter, and Aaron Auch on board as executive producers.

This film is the reboot of the 1989 classic movie starring Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott, Kelly Lynch and Ben Gazzara, and directed by Rowdy Herrington.
In the 90s Road House grossed $30 million in the United States and Canada and $31 million internationally for a worldwide total of $61 million with a budget of $15M. But in total it grossed over $200 million and was more successful on home video.
The original film was nominated for (but did not “win”) five Golden Raspberry Awards: Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Patrick Swayze), Worst Supporting Actor (Ben Gazzara), Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay.
A sequel, Road House 2: Last Call, was released directly to DVD in July 2006 and was telling the story of Dalton’s adult son. The fils was directed by Scott Ziehl and starring Johnathon Schaech, Richard Norton, Jake Busy, Will Patton, and Larnell Stovall.
Plot: While he’s deep undercover in New York, DEA agent Shane Tanner, the son of a legendary cooler named Dalton, learns that his uncle Nate Tanner got beat up by a group of men because he doesn’t want to sell the Black Pelican, his bar in Tyree, Louisiana. Shane takes off for Louisiana to find out who attacked Nate.
