Monkey The Masked Warrior

Hong Kong studio Star Alliance has a new martial arts action movie in the works – titled Monkey: The Masked Warrior – so naturally we had a rummage around to see what we could find on the project. It’s currently still in pre production but what we do know is its being directed by Thai duo Sirisak Koshpasharin and (produced by) Sangar Chatchairungruang, whose credits include the hard core Muay Thai action flicks…’The Kick’ and ‘Fireball.’ The icing on the proverbial cake is some rather nifty teaser art. Hong Kong production values, with Thai martial arts know-how, hmm this could be good. More as always, when we get it.

Synopsis: Tai owns a small unique Thai restaurant called ‘Hanuman’ selling only ‘Tom Yum Kung’ in the center city of Shanghai. He was quiet soul, full of mystery but he is kind to the locals and always supportive of people in the community. Life goes on as usual until mafia boss Pietro appears looking to buy up land for as Mega Hotel project. He forces everyone around to sell the land without exception and ‘Hanuman’ is included. Moreover, Pietro creates the big fighting event to draw people to fight in his ‘Pit of Death’ with his fierce fighter. To make his event more interesting, he creates some dramatic story to draw local people to fight in the pit with his fighter. Then, the rampage begins. Team up with the local ambitious gangster, Afei, the whole community is in need for help and justice. Lee, a young Chinese guy, who was the waiter in the restaurant, with the help of unrevealed White Monkey, fight to protect the dignity of China under the Monkey Masked.
